I’m a little bit fed up with all those heart pendants, although they are extremely popular. I decided to make some new pendants that are round, oval, square, anything but heart. These are four new ones, but there are also some older ones still available in the shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ukapala?section_id=7177309&page=2
This bead is yellow glass with silver foil in it, which makes it look gold. It would be impossible to tell if the foil was gold or silver, if not for several tiny air bubbles trapped in the glass. Lovely :)
I’ve been reluctant to use rectangle-shaped beads for steampunk jewellery, but a friend told me: “Rectangle is not typical. Not typical is good.” so I tried.
The main bead of this pendant is light olive-green glass, however it’s covered in a layer of copper powder on the inside, which makes it look like antique-gold coloured.
I’ve been really busy for the last few days, preparing jewellery, clasped ribbons and printed materials for my table at Octocon, so I haven’t been able to take a lot of photos. I’m also not listing anything new on Etsy, just in case I sell it at the convention.
After browsing what I already have, I figured I have plenty of brown and red steampunk pendants but almost no other colours, so I’ll be making more green, purple and perhaps blue (although I don’t have many beads). I’m also making Cthulhus, steampunk kittens and if time allows I’ll make several gothic sets and perhaps more earrings or steampink items?
This is one of the pendants that will be available at the convention:
I’ll be back to regular blog posting after the weekend.
