Heart pendants – 2012 3rd batch

For some reason most of the steampunk ones are green this time… I think I need to go shopping for supplies, most of the hearts I have left are green at the moment. Also, some of them have the new key charms I’ve recently got and will be using from now on until further notice (they’re bigger but I like them better than the previous ones).

Cthulhu brooches/pins

I’ve had this idea for a while, especially since people have been asking about Cthulhu brooches, I just had to find a way to attach a pendant to a pin. Kilt pins came to the rescue, as they’re equipped with loops. I didn’t know what else to attach to the loops (except for the chain), so I made a few versions with and without beads. Feedback will be appreciated.

Shop closed for April

Etsy scam warning!

I’ve received an email via Etsy, asking to donate a piece of jewellery to a sick kid, to inspire him. I was considering doing that for a short while, but with a little help of my friends and Google search engine, it turned out to be a scam. The story of illness was taken from this article and only the names were changed.

For example, the email said:

In 2006, flu-like symptoms and bruising prompted my aunt to take him to a doctor, beginning a journey that brought the family to St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee.
Here, my cousin underwent treatment including a bone marrow transplant. John contracted an infection and was put into an induced coma for 19 days.
Through the grace of God, he came through that. But the coma took its toll.
John, who had always been active, could no longer walk. He was confined to a wheelchair and had to undergo extensive physical therapy. But slowly, John began to regain his strength. Seven months after being in the coma and with treatment completed,John returned home to rebuild his motor skills. For that, he turned back to his guitar. I would sit with him and listen to dead tunes and help him learn how to move his fingers and improve his motor skills.

Shamrocks

I was a little bit late with the shamrock production this year, but there’s still some time until St. Paddy’s day. I tried different wire and bead combinations this time.

My first ring

After many months of resisting, I finally got myself a proper ring mandrel and decided I should make some freeform rings (it works for pendants, so why wouldn’t it for rings?). This is the first one I’ve made. It took me a long time to decide what beads I wanted to use, and after a while went for a safe brown-turquoise combination. I don’t think it’s bad for the first time.

Tooth shaped pendants

I don’t make steampunk stuff all the time, sometimes I need a break from it, that’s why I keep a stash of pretty semi precious stones in my desk, in case I get good ideas.

These pendants are relatively simple, made from a rather small piece of wire, and the common thing about them is the bead shape and a decorative bead on the top. The black agate one is double sided.

More pendants with dichroic glass

I’m still experimenting with the right shape for my pendants, also looking for beads that go with the dichroic glass cabs, which is not easy, because they usually change colours depending on from which angle you look at them. Metallic coated fire polished glass seems to work best.

The pendants are available in my shop: green, purple, blue and brown (the green one is also based on a gold plated watch piece – nicer colour!)
